January 2023 was bleak: The village of Lützerath in North Rhine-Westphalia was cleared despite massive protests. The RWE corporation is mining millions of tons of lignite, which will cause us to completely miss our climate targets. The energy transition is not being accelerated, and trust in climate-friendly policies has been deeply shaken. Biodiversity crises and climate crises are not going away; there is now talk of global warming reaching up to 2.8 degrees.
